JIN SHIN DO® BODYMIND® ACUPRESSURE
Jin Shin Do® Bodymind Acupressure® is a unique, client centered form of bodywork that uses gentle yet deep finger pressure on specific acu-points and verbal Body Focusing techniques to help release "armoring" or chronic tension, balance the "Qi" or energy, and improve vitality. JSD is a unique synthesis of traditional Japanese acupressure technique, classic Chinese acupuncture and acupressure theory, Taoist philosophy, Qigong (breathing and exercise techniques), Reichian segmental theory and principles of Ericksonian psychotherapy.

Originated by psychotherapist, Iona Marsaa Teeguarden, this clothes-on method of bodywork promotes a pleasant trancelike state, in which one can relax and move out of the head and into the body, accessing feelings and inner wisdom.

Sessions of JSD Acupressure are 80 minutes in length. After an initial assessment, clients lay fully clothed on a massage table while the practitioner begins to select the most effective acu-points to be used in the session. Often 2 points are held at one time to facilitate the gentle release of energy. As energy begins to move, one slips beyond the layers of the body and mind to connect with one's Essential Self and the unbounded intelligence that it has. Jin Shin Do®, which means "The Way of the Compassionate Spirit", works to meet clients where they are at providing a safe and supportive atmosphere for encouraging change and the unfolding of wellness and vitality.

Jin Shin Do® Bodymind Acupressure® practice is not intended for the diagnosis, treatment and cure of disease. When used in conjunction with standard medical treatment, Jin Shin Do® can assist the healing process by reducing physical and emotional tension, decreasing stress, and encouraging a sense of increased well-being.
